The international solar and energy storage market is experiencing a significant upswing as demand for resilient and decentralized energy systems accelerates worldwide. Industry data reveals that exports of photovoltaic (PV) modules and lithium-based energy storage systems surged in Q1 2025, especially toward regions emphasizing energy independence and climate resilience.

Following the European Commission’s 2025 Green Deal update, several member states, including Spain, Poland, and Romania, have expedited tenders for hybrid solar-plus-storage projects. Exporters of PV modules ranging from 550W to 650W and high-voltage lithium battery systems (100V+ rated) have reported a 28% increase in shipments compared to Q4 2024.

Latin America continues to emerge as a hot zone for hybrid systems. Brazil’s updated Net Metering regulations (Normative Resolution 1000) and Mexico’s push for rural electrification have led to a spike in demand for 5kW to 12kW hybrid inverters paired with 10kWh to 20kWh storage units. Exporters targeting these markets report longer lead times and rising inquiries for INMETRO and NOM-certified products.

In Southeast Asia, the Philippines and Indonesia have initiated new import-friendly incentives for solar and battery storage equipment. These policies are aimed at combating grid unreliability amid record-breaking heatwaves and rising electricity tariffs. Product types gaining traction include stackable LFP battery packs, MPPT-enabled hybrid inverters, and bifacial solar panels tailored for tropical climates.

On the African continent, countries like Kenya, Ghana, and Nigeria are scaling up off-grid solutions. The African Development Bank’s Desert-to-Power initiative is spurring procurement of containerized solar-storage systems. Exporters from Asia and the EU have secured large tenders involving 3-phase off-grid inverters and modular battery packs with expandable capacity.

Freight cost volatility remains a challenge due to Red Sea disruptions and port congestion in the Gulf. Exporters are adapting by consolidating shipments and utilizing regional distribution hubs in Jebel Ali, Singapore, and Casablanca. Despite these hurdles, margins remain strong due to increased product customization and service bundling.

Global supply chain analysts forecast a 22% year-on-year increase in solar-storage exports for FY2025. Companies with IEC, UL, and CE-compliant inventories, localized technical support, and flexible payment terms are expected to gain a competitive edge.
